Saw a lot of rain and wind today. Very heavy at one point, not normal Oregon rain. More unsettling: another high wind advisory. Lot's of high wind warnings seems like this year. Or perhaps there still exists the same amount of extreme weather, but now I just notice it more because my phone is an extreme weather notification ninja.
Notifications, kinda annoying BTW, their best feature the ability to dismiss them. Man they pile up quick. Digital Trash. If they could just whisper them quietly...
Saw Big Hero 6. Very pretty. Set in 'San Fransokyo'. You get that within the first 15 seconds. Once upon a time in a land far away... oh Disney. Of course not so far away anymore! Right around the corner really as 'Personal healthcare assistants' like Baymax, very much exist in the here and now. Even soft billowy ones with 'flesh' made of warm air and vinyl.
Not so smart yet, but getting smarter fast. Not so full featured yet, but getting more full featured fast. Kinda like these kids. Yes our children are in a race with the robots. Go team humanity!
The quality of the light in these animated features is becoming so real. So soft yet so sharp. Gloom and rain outside in the real world, but inside, in the fake one, so sunny! A visual treat. The trick is going to be keeping it cartoony.
Disney of course the masters of 'keeping it cartoony'. When it's too real, it's just too creepy and many of the background elements are there already. Causes an odd depth of field between a very photo-realistic background and a very cartoony foreground. A virtual augmented reality. The future and past I suppose of all things.
Going to Disneyland in a few weeks. Kid got a measles shot. Damn straight she did! Those are pictures (kids with measles) you don't really want to see.
Post dinner we talked with Q about her name and how multifaceted it is. It can be a middle name, a first name, a last name, a boys name or a girls name. A gift of great power that. A ring perhaps?
Wish it wasn't raining so heavily. A clear umbrella is a good thing to have. But I consider that equipment for the most part now. Too many years in Oregon and you really do just ditch the umbrella and endure the rain at some point. I'm not totally there yet but I'm close.
