Hot dog

In the book "Two to go - A Short History of Flint's Coney Island Restaurants", I learned that:

"Hot Dogs are often called wieners, suggesting a Viennese origin, but in Vienna the sausage is called a frankfurter and in Frankfurt it is called a wiener each apparently crediting the other with the savory delight."

So two places that each blame each other for the creation of the hot dog. Right? People say hot dogs and pretty much everybody agrees that, while delicious, not in any way good for our health per se. I mean most places have that one food thing they are really proud of, and in the case of Frankfurt, and Vienna, it's not the hot dog.
